2025 Central Taiwan dengue fever prevention inspection results
To strengthen dengue fever prevention and environmental management, the Central Center of Environmental Management coordinates with local environmental protection agencies to oversee breeding site removal, inspections of vacant lots and houses, chemical disinfection, and hygiene education.
When infection trends rise, joint inspections are conducted with local bureaus, and funding is provided for chemicals, disinfection, and inspection manpower to curb the spread and control the epidemic.
Cross-agency cooperation and continuous management facilitated the following inspection operations:
The Central Center conducted joint inspections with the Ministry of Health and Welfare Centers for Disease Control, Yunlin Health Bureau, Beigang Health Office, Yunlin Environmental Protection Bureau, and the Beigang Cleaning Squad. In total, 19 inspections were conducted, 127 people were mobilized, and 4,221 households were inspected. The inspections found 228 positive containers (51 indoors, 177 outdoors), 3,381 larvae (715 indoors, 2,666 outdoors), and 82 dirty sites. All of these were immediately cleared and improved to lower vector mosquito breeding risks.
Post-disaster inspections targeted the large number of containers holding standing water following Typhoon Danas, extreme heavy rains, and Typhoon Podul. The Central Center conducted 17 inspections, mobilized 124 people, inspected 15,237 households, cleared 897 containers with standing water, and found 75 positive containers and 417 larvae. Chemical treatment was conducted at four sites to lower post-disaster vector mosquito breeding risks.
The Central Center continuously conducts routine dengue fever prevention inspections. It conducted six inspections, mobilized 18 people, inspected 1,150 households, cleared 103 containers with standing water, and found six positive containers and 58 larvae. Chemical treatment was conducted at one site, and 11 dirty sites were cleaned to maintain community hygiene and reduce the number of breeding sites.
he Central Center also reinforces inspections and management of vacant lots and houses under central government jurisdiction. It conducted two inspections, mobilized six people, cleared 11 containers with standing water, and found 11 dirty sites. All of these were immediately cleared and improved to prevent them from becoming vector mosquito breeding sites.
The Central Center continues to cooperate with local governments to implement breeding site removal and environmental inspections. Integrated outreach and prevention measures increase community awareness to protect public health and environmental hygiene.
