County and City Environmental Protection Bureau Communication and Reporting

The Northern Center of Environmental Management's jurisdiction includes Taipei City, New Taipei City, Keelung City, Taoyuan City, Hsinchu City, Hsinchu County, Yilan County, Hualien County, and Lienchiang County. Its main environmental management tasks include regional environmental quality planning, regional environmental health emergency response, inter regional environmental law enforcement, and regional facility operations management.

Communication and Reporting in the Northern Region

The “Northern Environmental Management Operations Coordination Report” was held on June 25, 2026, bringing together environmental protection bureaus and departments from counties and cities in north Taiwan and relevant units of the Environmental Management Administration (EMA), with 50 participants. As the flood and typhoon seasons have arrived this year, and to comprehensively strengthen disaster prevention, response, and recovery capabilities across the nine counties and cities in north Taiwan, the event focused on disaster relief deployment, environmental restoration, and disaster waste management. The EMA provided a briefing on the “Disaster Waste Management Guidelines” and the “Disaster Waste Temporary Storage Site Disaster Prevention and Safety Guidelines.” To prepare for the flood and typhoon season, the Hualien County Environmental Protection Bureau and the Kaohsiung City Environmental Protection Bureau were also invited to share practical experiences from last year’s overflow disaster of the Mataian River barrier lake in Hualien County, including environmental restoration and disinfection under compound disaster conditions, as well as practical experiences in cross-county and cross-city disaster relief deployment and emergency response.

Reporting Results

Through the event, participating agencies engaged in thorough communication and exchanges. In addition to sharing experiences on disaster relief deployment, environmental restoration, and disaster waste management, the Northern Center of Environmental Management requested that all county and city environmental protection agencies, in accordance with the “Disaster Waste Management Guidelines” and the “Disaster Waste Temporary Storage Site Disaster Prevention and Safety Guidelines,” commence preparations for temporary disaster waste storage sites. The agencies were also asked to inventory and designate suitable locations within their jurisdictions as post-disaster temporary waste storage sites in accordance with disaster prevention and response regulations. These efforts effectively enhance regional disaster defense and proactive emergency response capabilities, yielding substantial results.
