County and City Environmental Protection Bureau Communication and Reporting
The Northern Center of Environmental Management's jurisdiction includes Taipei City, New Taipei City, Keelung City, Taoyuan City, Hsinchu City, Hsinchu County, Yilan County, Hualien County, and Lienchiang County. Its main environmental management tasks include regional environmental quality planning, regional environmental‑health emergency response, inter‑regional environmental law enforcement, and regional facility operations management.
To effectively carry out the aforementioned tasks, the Northern Center of Environmental Management regularly holds "Northern Region Environmental Management Task Communication and Reporting" meetings. Participants include environmental protection departments and bureaus across northern Taiwan, district prosecutors' offices, the Seventh Special Police Corps of the National Police Agency, and relevant units of the administration. Through communication, coordination, and experience sharing, these meetings advance joint enforcement of environmental management.
Communication and Reporting in the Northern RegionOn June 18, 2025, the "First Northern Region Environmental Management Task Communication and Reporting, 2025" was held, with 43 participants from northern environmental protection departments and bureaus, the Seventh Special Police Corps of the National Police Agency, and relevant units of the administration. Topics included dengue‑fever breeding‑source inspection priorities and items requiring cooperation from environmental protection departments and bureaus; the status of dengue inspections in northern cities and counties; use of technological tools for air‑pollution inspections at Dayuan and Guanyin industrial parks; case studies on cracking down on illegal dumping and interdicting illegal waste exports; and guidance on public‑restroom construction inspections and common deficiencies.
Reporting Results
During this meeting, the Northern Center of Environmental Management and the environmental protection bureaus of northern cities and counties engaged in thorough communication and exchange, jointly advancing environmental management efforts with fruitful results:
- In response to the high share of imported dengue cases in the northern region, cities and counties were asked to report on prevention measures and to implement "inspect, empty, clean, and scrub" actions to strengthen regional environmental‑hygiene management.
- By sharing air‑pollution inspection cases, environmental protection agencies signaled strong enforcement resolve to businesses, prompting stricter operation and management of pollution‑control equipment. Departments and bureaus were urged to actively use technological tools in enforcement.
- Experiences in uncovering new forms of environmental crime involving illegal waste storage and cross‑border flows were shared. Working with customs to inspect containers successfully prevented illegal waste exports. Departments and bureaus were urged to enforce inspections of waste after return at customs and removal from warehouses to prevent illegal storage and environmental pollution.
- Reminders were provided for public‑restroom construction inspections to avoid common deficiencies leading to point deductions. Departments and bureaus were asked to carefully verify contracted project details to ensure consistency with approved plans.

The Northern Center of Environmental Management will continue holding regular communication and reporting meetings with northern cities' and counties' environmental protection agencies, prosecutors, and police. Through these efforts, regional environmental law enforcement and management will be advanced in a shared commitment to northern Taiwan's environmental governance.
