Cleaning service industry observation and training to help industry, government, academia enhance public restroom quality
Public restrooms are a public facility closest to people’s daily lives as well as the first impression foreign tourists have of Taiwan. To improve the cleaning quality of public restrooms in transportation sectors, the administration and Taiwan High Speed Rail Corporation held the “Cleaning Service Industry Observation and Training” event, inviting cleaning service associations from northern, central, and southern regions and transportation sector entities to gather in Miaoli. Through on-site demonstrations and experience exchange, the aim was to improve cleaning skills and service quality within the industry.
The event is a continuation of the “New Generation Public Restroom Cleaning, Maintenance, and Management Seminar” held on Sept. 3, 2025. The previous event was primarily theoretical, starting from drainage system health management, introducing integrated building drainage standards and pipeline operation principles, emphasizing the importance of regular high-pressure cleaning and endoscopic inspections, and debunking the public myth that “flushing toilet paper causes blockages.” The “Cleaning Service Industry Observation and Training” event shifted toward practical execution, inviting the Taiwan Toilet Association to share experiences in Japanese special feature public restroom management with demonstrations by Acer Building Maintenance Company at HSR Miaoli Station. Participants were able to interact and learn fully from theory to practice.
Transportation sites such as high-speed rail, stations, and transfer hubs are the spaces most used by the public for commuting and tourism, and their environmental quality directly affects city image and public hygiene. By holding this type of professional observation and educational training, not only can unified cleaning operation standards be established, but it also helps drive the industry toward scientific, standardized, and friendly development, comprehensively improving public restroom cleanliness and public satisfaction.
Cleaning is not only a job, but also a mission to protect public health and reflect nation’s image. Through continuous training and professional exchange, it is expected that cleaning service operators will not only possess skills but also gain new inspirations to create a clean, safe, and dignified public restroom environment.
