Division Chief of Division of General Waste Management
Tsai Peng-Pei
Division Chief Tsai has a degree in Civil and Construction Engineering from the National Taiwan Institute of Technology (now known as National Taiwan University of Science and Technology). He has been a civil servant for over 32 years. Early in his career, he was in charge of hazardous waste import and export management, Basel Convention and business waste management. Between 2006 and 2010, while serving as the inspection captain for the EPA Inspectorate, Central Inspectorate, he was in charge of the Chunghua County jurisdiction, successfully leading the investigation on multiple illegal wastewater and waste dumping cases. He served as the Inspectorate's Waste Management Division chief starting at the end of 2010, supervising domestic landfill and incinerator operation management and helping resolve a contractual dispute regarding the Taitung Incineration Plant between the Taitung County Government and the contractor so the plant can be used as a government backup facility. Since 2017, in response to domestic incineration plant's entering a transitional phase, the Executive Yuan has approved the first and second phases of the Multi-Waste Treatment Plan, under which he supervises and assists cities and counties in renovating and updating 16 incineration plants, organizing and revamping 127 landfills, and rejuvenating 1.09 million cubic meters of landfill space.
