Yeh Nai-Chun
Director Yeh has been in civil service for over 30 years, starting from the entry level, personally experiencing organizational transformations from the Taiwan Provincial Government Environmental Protection Department to the Environmental Management Administration, the Ministry of Environment, and throughout each stage of organizational restructuring, he has committed himself fully to every assigned responsibility and task, achieving set goals. Examples include planning and establishing the Taiwan Provincial Government Environmental Impact Assessment Review Committee and review mechanism after the Environmental Impact Assessment Act was promulgated; participating in the disposal of construction waste after the Sept. 21 Jiji Earthquake, and taking on environmental restoration work at the forward command post after the Aug. 8 disaster brought on by Typhoon Morakot. He also successfully investigated Taiwan's first environmental crime involving illegal gas emission bypassing, assisted in recovering over a hundred million New Taiwan dollars in unpaid air pollution control fees, realizing environmental justice and setting an example for cooperation between prosecutors, police, and environmental authorities to combat environmental crime. In addition, he received the honor of Special Contributions to Combating Environmental Crime in the first Golden Environment Awards.
