Deputy Executive Secretary of Soil and Groundwater Pollution Remediation Fund Management Board

Wang Jen

Deputy Executive Secretary Wang holds a Master's degree in Environmental Planning and Management from the Institute of Environmental Engineering and Management at the College of Engineering, National Taipei University of Technology. Since 2001, he has been actively engaged in soil and groundwater-related affairs. In 2004, he joined the Soil and Groundwater Pollution Remediation Fund Management Board (SGPRFMB) under the Environmental Protection Administration (EPA), where he has held a variety of positions, including Assistant Environmental Technical Specialist, Environmental Technical Specialist, and Head of both the Law Suit Executive and the Comprehensive Planning Division.

Following the reorganization of the EPA into the Ministry of the Environment on August 22, 2023, Deputy Executive Secretary Wang was appointed as Head of the Site Management Unit within the Soil and Groundwater Pollution Remediation Fund Management Board. On January 3, 2024, he assumed the role of Deputy Executive Secretary.

Deputy Executive Secretary Wang has been fortunate to witness the growth of the SGPRFMB from its inception to its present form, contributing to its development over the past 20 years, from an operational role to a leadership position. Reflecting on his two-decade-long civil service career, he shares two guiding principles that have significantly shaped his professional approach:

  1. "If you are not willing to take on responsibility, then public service is not the right path for you. As long as you are not engaged in corruption or misconduct, even if mistakes are made, they will result in administrative responsibility at most." Don't be afraid—move forward with confidence.
  2. "If the execution of business is impeded due to colleagues being on leave, the issue lies not with the colleagues, but with the organizational structure of our unit." This principle underscores the importance of valuing colleagues' rights outside of work and ensuring sound management within the organization.

Although Deputy Executive Secretary Wang does not claim to have achieved perfection, he remains committed to the ongoing improvement of his work and the agency. Looking ahead, he is focused on maintaining stability in operations, breaking free from conventional frameworks, and working closely with colleagues and experts in the soil and groundwater sector to continue advancing the agency's goals over the next 20 years.
